Point Reyes

January 21, 2018

The search for serenity at the pacific coast of the Marin Headlands

The deep sound of the fog horn hits my ears while I am driving across the Golden Gate Bridge. My mind is filled with excitement and I devoutly enjoy the fascinating view when the bridge appears from the fog that silently lays over the bay. With every mile I drive, I get further away from the bustling city towards the safe haven of the Point Reyes National Seashore at the roaring coastline of Marin County. Looking at the houses nested along Tamales Bay, the hidden dairy farms along the road out to the beaches, you immediately realize that clocks are ticking at a different speed out here. It is quiet. I can only hear the tweet of the birds and the distant sound of the surf crashing against the rocks, occasionally disturbed by a truck driving by. The further out you go, the less distractions you will encounter.

The magnificent beauty of the place is imminent. The breathtaking views, the smell of the ocean, the soft light that hits the plants, grass and trees, brings the subtle colors of nature  to live. The warm sunlight that now and then peaks through the fading fog is magically turns into a silver morning light.

All of this let´s your  heart and soul embrace this place.

Working on the FAINTED HORIZONS series brought me many time to this area, where I took extensive hikes and stroles to search for hidden places and fascinating views. But more importantly it helped my soul and mind to openly encounter the mystic atmosphere that is so deeply connected to this peninsula.

Standing at the cliffs, looking at the horizon, with nothing between me and infinity, this does something to me. It brings me closer to my inner desire to get answers to the most important questions in life.

A magic moment...
