Documentary series of a market in Delhi, India, showing the difference of acquiring consumer goods in India, to the modern world shopping standards.

We are so used to get all our needs in air conditioned supermarkets around the corner. What seems so natural and obvious for many of us, is completely different in other parts of the world. This series shows how people buy food and all kind of other goods in a large market in Delhi. You will find butcher shops, spice stands and fish mongers close to each others. The western stomach gets challenged when walking in the narrow alleyways with animal heads lying on the ground and men carrying dozens of chicken that will be killed the next minute.

What seems so unfamiliar and maybe shocking to our eyes, shows a very ordinary scene for the people living there.
